No record has been found of her baptism. Her father had an illegitimate daughter in 1711 with Christian Campbell and later married her in 1717. Margaret's birth coming several years earlier makes it uncertain if her mother is also Christian Campbell or if she is the product of an earlier relationship.

Margaret McJock disappears from records after 1746. She would have been in her early 40s. The next surviving parish examination roll is in 1759, which Margaret does not appear in. It's possible that she could have remarried after 1746, but no such record has been found. Having alread lived 13 years as a widow raising her young children, it seems more likely that she did not remarry. Margaret McJock is presumed to have died between 1746-1759.
