In 1841, at age 4, William Angus was residing in Lancaster, Lancashire, England with his parents and siblings.
In 1851, at age 13, William Angus was residing at 4 Palisades in Castle Ward, Lancaster, Lancashire, England, with his parents and siblings. He was a student.
On 13 May 1857, at age 20, William Angus, a labourer, residing at Bridge Lane in Lancaster, Lancashire, England, son of James Angus, a sawyer (carpenter), married in the parish church in Lancaster, Lancashire, England, to 20-year-old Margaret Lowther, residing at Harton Street in Lancaster, Lancashire, England, daughter of James Lowther, a collier (coal miner).
For reasons not yet understood, William's children were born in diverse locations, including Castle Ward in Lancaster where William and his wife are found in early census records, as well as in Manchester and even Fife in Scotland.
William has not been found in 1861.
In 1871, at age 33, William Angus was residing at 37 Bridge Lane in Castle Ward, Lancaster, Lancashire, England, with his wife and children. He was employed as a painter's labourer. They were sharing a residence with William's sister, Ann Peel, and her family, as well as James and Catherine Hall.

William died in 1895 in Lunesdale, Halton, Lancashire, England.
