On 21 Sept 1828, at age 17, James Angious, a wheelwright, married in Cockerham, Lancashire, England, to 22-year-old Jane Preston. Both of the parish of St. Michael, Cockerham. Jane signed with her mark. The marriage was witnessed by Thomas Wright and WIlliam Angious who also signed with his mark. Cockerham is located about 10km south of Lancaster, almost midway to Preston.
In 1841, at age 30, James Angus was residing in Lancaster, Lancashire, England, with his wife and children, Ann, John, Jane, William, and Sarah. He was employed as a sawyer.
In 1851, at age 40, James Angus was residing at 4 Palisades in Castle Ward, Lancaster, Lancashire, England, with his wife and children, John, Jane, William and newborn James.
