- Robert Ferguson was born in 1795 in Glentarken, Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland. Both his mother and wife were Stewarts from Dalveich clan. His family was forcefully removed from Glentarken by their landlord sometime in the early 1800s and moved to nearby St. Fillans Village.
In 1817 at age 23, Robert Ferguson married in Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland to Janet Stewart. They had a family of six children in St. Fillans.
In 1841, Robert Ferguson was residing in St. Fillans, Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland, with his wife and daughters Grizel (Grace) and Mary (Margaret).
In 1851, at age 54, Robert Ferguson was residing in St. Fillans, Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland, with his wife. He was employed as a general labourer. They were living in the home of Peter Dochart (51).
In 1861, at age 65, Robert Ferguson was residing in St. Fillans, Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland with his wife. He was employed as a surfaceman.
Robert Ferguson died in 1867 and is buried in Dundurn Cemetery, Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland.

Robert is found in Mitchell's Monumental Inscriptions for Dundurn Cemetery, St. Fillans, with the following entry: "Robert FERGUSON, feuar at St. Fillans, wife Janet STEWART, 6 SEP 1867, daughter Margaret 12 JAN 1845, and son Donald died (in) infancy."

6. Grace, deceased, married Duncan Fergusson, Strathyre, a Fergusson on his mother's as well as his father's side, deceased, had issue, Duncan and others, of whom only a daughter now remains at St. Fillans.
