  There is something amiss with Jonas Furler. His gravestone in Delhi Cemetery clearly shows "Jonas Furler, 1837 - 1905, his wife Martha Wintermute, 1872 - 1958." Buried with them are their children Iva May, 1898-1912, Cecil Roy, 1899 - 1982. Nearby is Corporal Eli Jonas Furler, 38th Batt'n, CEF, 13 AUG 1964, Age 74. The inscriptions have been double checked for accuracy. According to his gravestone, Jonas was 35 years older than his wife! However, Jonas Furler is recorded in the 1901 census as being born 10 JUL 1869. His age at time of marriage is recorded as 27 in 1897, making him only 1 year older than his wife. The census and marriage record are in agreement with each other, but in significant conflict with the gravestone. It is unclear if somehow two different Jonases have been confused for each other, or if the gravestone is in error. But such a significant error would certainly have been noticed by the family and corrected. This mysterious conflict remains unresolved at this time.
