Notes - Margaret was born in Glasgow just after her parents immigrated from Belfast, Ireland. Margaret was only 12 years old when her father, William Hunter, died prematurely. Margaret was raised by her mother and step father, Thomas Gilliland. However, strangely, no mention of Thomas was preserved in Janet Duncan's family history. Margaret married in Glasgow to Robert Duncan and had a family there. They immigrated to Canada in 1914 to bring their son Bill to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children to be treated for polio. Maggie was reputed to have long earlobes "from her kids pulling on her earrings". Maggie is believed to be the only one of this family who immigrated to Canada.
