  Cairbre was called "Lifeachar" because he was nursed by the side of the River Liffey; the river upon which Dublin is built. After 17 years of reign Cairbre was slain at the Battle of Gabhra in 284 by Simeon, son of Ceirb, who came from the south of Leinster.
