• Notes

  Crinan was Mormaer of Atholl, Abthane of Dule, Steward of the Western Isles, and Lay Abbott of Dunkeld. He was the father of King Duncan I "The Gracious" of Scotland, and thus became the founder of the Royal House of Dunkeld. Crinan was killed in battle against MacBeth (of Shakespearian fame).
