  Llewelyn married Angharad, daughter of Maredydd, Prince of Deheubarth. Upon the death of Maredydd the reign of Deheubarth was disputed. The kingdom of Gwynedd was lost and later regained by Llewelyn, who also later succeeded in capturing Deheubarth.
