| Jane Brown married Jesse LEE b: 10 MAR 1778 in USA, son of Jesse Lee and Sarah McDowell. Jesse Lee is found in 1810 residing in Tunkhannock Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, USA with the following family: 3 males 0-9, one male 16-25, one male 26-44, 2 females 0-9, one female 10-15, one female 16-25, one female 26-44. Jesse's brother-in-law, James Brown, is also found in Eaton in 1830, however the census for Eaton is arranged alphabetically so there is no way to judge how close they lived to each other. | Lee, Jesse (I20510)
| Jane died at age 18. (Findagrave incorrectly records her as the half sister of John McCready Black. She was his full sister.) | Black, Jane (I22881)
| Jane died in childhood. | Stewart, Jane (I16674)
| Jane Eliza Tait was born in 1869 in Elora, Wellington, Ontario, Canada. She is found with her parents in 1871 and 1881. In Decmeber 1885, her family immigrated to Washington State, USA. Jane would have been 15 years old at the time. After immigration she went by the name Bessie Jane Tait. Her father was the founder of the Tacoma Business College in Tacoma, Washington, USA. Bessie wroked at her father's college as a teacher of shorthand and typewriting, as noted in an 1895 directory listing for Tacoma. In 1890, 1891, 1892, 1893 Bessie is listed in the Tacoma Directory as a teacher of shorthand and typewriting at the Tacoma Business College. In the 1892 Washington State Territorial Census, Bessie was residing in Tacoma, Pierce, Washington, USA with her parents and siblings. All members of the family were employed as teachers except Maude who was a student. In 1900, Bessie was residing in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, USA with her widowed mother and younger sister. She was employed as a teacher. Her borther John L Tait and his family lived next door. In 1910, at age 33 (sic, actually 41), Bessie was residing on Belden Ave in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, USA with her widowed mother and sister. She was unemployed. | Tait, Bessie Jane (I19094)

| Jane is found in 1881 residing with her parents. An old family photo shows Jane with her husband Eddy. His surname is unknown. An online family tree shows a separate sister named Jennie Cuthbert b 1866 with no further information. Jennie is most likely the same person as this Jane who is recorded in 1881 as "Jennie" born 1866. | Cuthbert, Jane (I3426)
| Jane is found residing with her grandfather, Alexander Stewart, in 1861, 1871 and 1881. Her parents are unknown. | Stewart, Jane G (I16680)
| Jane is recorded as having died in 1847, but this is likely an error as her husband was already remarried and having children in 1843. | Bridgman, Jane (I1404)
| Jane is shown in the 1881 census as a widow with her son and two single daughters. Daughter Mary Jane was already married by this point. In 1901 Jane is shown in the residence of her son James, again with the single daughters Hattie and Sarah. | Dennis, Jane (I4829)

| Jane married Duncan Fisher and moved to Balliemore, Glenbuckie, Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland. Jane died at Edra(leachdach) in Strathgartney, Callander, Perthshire, Scotland, at the residence of her son, Robert Stewart Fisher. Executors were her son Robert Stewart Fisher, her cousin, John Stewart, solicitor in Dunblane, and John Ferguson. Her gravestone inscription reads: In Affectionate Remembrance of Duncan Fisher, Farmer, Balimore 5.7.1858 - 23.1.1899. Also His Infant Son John 18.12.1877 - 1.2.1878. Also His Beloved Wife Jane Stewart D. At Edra, Trossachs 19.12.1934. Also Bessie Miller Macrosty Wife of Robert S. Fisher D. At Greycraig, Saline, Fife 9.12.1910 Aged 31y. John Fisher, Balimore D. 5.10.1850 Aged 46y. Also His Spouse Christian Macgregor D. At Balimore 12.6.1869 Aged 44y | Stewart, Jean (I16868)
| Jane married secondly to a man named Williams. In 1881 Jane was residing in Chatham with her brother-in-law, Thomas Hulme Taylor. In 1901 Jane Williams was residing in Chatham and is shown as widowed. She was residing with her daughter Maggie Taylor and granddaughter Myrtle Arnold (who is shown mistakenly as "niece".) In 1911 she was residing with her daughter Maggie Taylor. | Bolton, Jane (I1232)
| Jane Ord Stewart, or "Jean" as she was called, was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, although her family came from Puslinch in Wellington County. Her daughter-in-law, Harriett Jones, recalled that the Hamilton Stewarts often visited Uncle Peter Stewart's farm in Puslinch (near Guelph). Jean was only 10 years old when her father died suddenly. She and her siblings were raised by their widowed mother who never remarried. Jean is the only one of her siblings to survive to old age, and one of only two who survived past their early 20s. In 1881, Jean was residing in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada as a child with her parents and siblings Robert, Leonard, James, and Margaret, as well as her uncles David Tait and Robert Tait and aunt Margaret Tait. In 1891, Jean was residing in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada, with her widowed mother and teenage brothers, Leonard and James. In 1901, Jean was residing in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada, with her widowed mother and adult brothers, Leonard and James. Jean was working as a bookkeeper. In 1904, the marriage register for Central Church records Jean's age as 27 at the time of their wedding. But the baptismal register for the church confirms her birth year as 1875 which would have made her 30 on the day of her wedding. In 1911, Jean was residing at 408 King William Street in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada, with her husband and young children, John and Margaret, as well as her widowed mother. In 1921, Jean was residing at 13 Love Street in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada, with her husband and children as well as her widowed elderly mother. Jean was described by her nieces as "not always the happiest wife due to (her husband) Tom's sternness". | Stewart, Jane Ord (I16665)
| Jane Peel is found in 1861 residing with her parents. Her later whereabouts is unknown. | Peel, Jane (I12332)
| Jane Stewart is not not shown with her family in 1841. She is also not listed in 1855 on her father's death registration. As her younger sister, Sarah Jane Stewart, carries her name as a middle name, it is presumed that Jane Stewart died prior to the birth of Sarah Jane Stewart in 1839. | Stewart, Jane (I16580)
| Jane was age 32, not married, and residing with her widowed father in 1911. It is presumed that she never married. | Harold, Jane Catherine (I7594)
| Jane was one of the triplets. She died as a child. The published biography of this family says that one of the triplets died at birth, and the second died a few years later of scarlet fever. However the gravestones indicate that both girls died during the time of the scarlet fever outbreak. It seems that either the gravestone transcription or the published family history is wrong about the time of death of one of the triplets. It is also possible that Jane's birthdate has been confused with the triplets, and that the third triplet's name is unknown; making Jane the fourth daughter. What is known for sure is that two of the three triplets died as children. | Stewart, Jane (I16575)
| Jane was predeceased by her husband by nearly 40 years and appears to have raised her children as a single mother. | Reid, Jane (I13276)
| Jane's baptism record specifies that she was born at Hawthornthwaite in Over Wyresdale, Lancashire, England. She is the only child of this family whose birth indicates a specific residence. Nothing more is known of her later whereabouts. | Angus, Jane (I20634)
| Jane's existence is not confirmed. She is listed in Mona's notes without any dates, but is listed as the first-born child. Her dates as shown here are merely a suggestion based on chronology. Jane has not been found in any public records. However it is likely that her parents probably did have a child around this time. So Jane's existence is reasonable. | Cuthbert, Jane (I3427)
| Jane's mother died in childbirth delivering Jane. She was raised by John Wood and his wife. (Not the John Wood who married Olive Atkinson.) | Dynes, Jane Ann (I5452)
| Jane's name is also recorded as McColl. | McCail, Jane (I9721)
| Jane's place of birth is not an error. She was born in Brazil. In 1881 Jane was residing in Kininmonth, Lonmay working as a servant for Alexander Reid. | Stewart, Jane (I16675)
| Jane's place of birth is uncertain. It is presumed to be St. Anicette as that is where her mother died in 1862, however her baptism is not recorded in the Chateauguay transcriptions and the 1881 census indicates that she was born in Ontario. 11-05-1879 Rev. D. G. McKay, of Bluevale ON, married J. E. M. Stewart, daughter of James D. Stewart, Esq., Harriston ON , and sister to A J. Stewart, Esq., treasurer of the town of Harriston ON. At the residence of the bride's father, by Rev. W. A. McKay, B.A., of Woodstock ON. Brother to the bridegroom, assisted by Rev. J. Beakie, Rev. J. Campbell,B.A. of Harriston ON, and Rev. B. Hamilton, of Paris ON. (The Gleaner newspaper, Huntingdon, Quebec, 1879) | Stewart, Jane Emily Marion (I16679)
| Jane's story is tragic. Jane's birth surname is unknown. No record has been found for her marriage to William Angus, a soldier. She lived her whole life in poverty. In all records she is recorded as a pauper. She was 25 years old when their son, Peter Angus, was born. Her husband, William Angus, is presumed to have died shortly thereafter as Jane had two illegitimate sons in 1784 and 1787. She and her youngest son died in 1788. She was just 32, and had likely lost her husband and at least two of her children before she herself died. The following births are believed to belong to this Jane Angus. Baptism: 27 Aug 1784 Christ Church, Over Wyresdale, Lancashire, England Paul Angus - spurious son of Jane Angus Notes: Pauper Register: Baptisms 1723 - 1813, Page 43, Entry 4 Baptism: 25 Jun 1787 Christ Church, Over Wyresdale, Lancashire, England Luke Angus - spurious son of Jane Angus Notes: Pauper Register: Baptisms 1723 - 1813, Page 45, Entry 23 If these are correct, it would appear that William died between 1781-1784 and Jane had a child by another man. Or Paul could be extramarital. The fact that Peter, Paul and Luke are all apostolic names gives further support to this being the correct connection. On 28 Jul 1787, just three days after the baptism of Jane's illegitimate son, Luke Angus, a court order (below) was issued for John Parker, husbandman in Bleasdale, to pay support for the illegitimate child he fathered on Jennett Angus in Over Wyresdale. There was only one extended Angus family residing in Over Wyresdale at that time. In that family there is no other contender for Jennett. Thus it is suggested that Jennett Angus named in the court order is the same person as Jane Angus, shown here. Jane died in June 1788 in Overton, Wyresdale, Lancashire, England. Her infant son, Luke, died two weeks later. ------------- Lancaster Quarter Session Records 28 Jul 1787 The Order made by James Fenton, Esquire, and Robert Fletcher, Clerk, two of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace (one whereof being of the quorum) in and for the said County under their Hands and Seals bearing date the twenty eighth day of July last wherein and whereby John Parker of Bleasdale in the said County, Husbandman, is declared and adjudged to be the reputed father of a male Bastard Child born upon the Body of Jennett Angus. And he thereby ordered forthwith upon notice of the same Order forthwith to pay or cause to be paid unto the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Township of Over Wyersdale in the said County of Lancaster or to some or one of them the Sum of Twenty Shillings for and towards the lying in of the said Jennett Angus and the maintenance of the said Bastard Child from the Time of his Birth to the time of making this Order. And also to pay or cause to be paid to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Township of Over Wyersdale aforesaid for the time being or some of one of them the Sum of one Shilling and Six pence in money weekly and every week from that present Time for and towards the Keeping Sustentations and Maintenance of the said Bastard Child for and during so long as the said Bastard Child shall be Chargeable to the said Township of Over Wyersdale is by this Court ratified and Confirmed no Appeal being made and due Service of the said Order proved upon the Oath of James Bibby. | Angus, Jane (I23428)
| Janes' family claims a broken, unverified descent from John Brown of Priesthill, starting with Matthew Brown (b 29 Apr 1733), father of: Robert Brown, b 1782 in Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland, m 1801 in Paisley to Jean Caldwell, b 1774 in Paisley. Immigrated to Rockside, Peel, Ontario, Canada in 1834. Parents of: John Brown of Caledon, Peel, Ontario, Canada. Jane Brown, herein. Jane Brown's marriage was witnessed by a William Brown and Alex Mclean. Jane had two brothers, John and Robert, who first became teachers, then Congregationalist ministers who served various congregations in Ontario, Canada before moving to Pilot Mound, Manitoba, Canada and eventually to Tacoma, Washington State, USA where they both died in 1892. Jane immigrated in 1885 with her husband to Tacoma, Washington, USA. Jane outlived her husband, who died in 1893. She is listed in a Tacoma Directory in 1895 as the widow of John W Tait. Between 1895-1899 her son John L Tait moved to Chicago, Illinois, USA. It's not known if Jane moved with him or stayed in Tacoma. | Brown, Jane C (I1664)
| Janet and Andrew lived in Culcrieff in Monzievaird, just 300 m from Glenturret where her brother Robert was born and 3 km from Westerton where her brother Daniel was Gamekeeper for the Ochtertyre estate. | Stewart, Janet (I16746)
| Janet and her husband and two children are buried at Dundurn Chapel in St. Fillans. This is the ancestral burial ground for the Stewarts of Ardvorlich. That she is buried there virtually guarantees that she is descended from one of the branches of the Stewarts of Ardvorlich, however, census records show her being born in Fortingall. Onomastics would suggest that her father's name was probably John. Ferguson records indicate this family resided at St. Fillans. There are multiple Stewart families around Loch Earn with a father named John that she could match with. None have a mother named Grace. | Stewart, Janet (I16716)
| Janet and her husband are recorded as having only one child, Janet/Jessie. She is found in later census records living with her grandfather, John Gow, and her parents are not found. It is presumed that her parents died and Jessie was raised by her grandfather. | Gow, Janet (I7104)
| Janet Duncan recalled that her great-grandmother was "a Kennedy from Belfast". However she recalled this great-grandmother to be on the Hunter side. Mary Jane Kennedy would have been her great-great grandmother and on the Duncan side. Assuming that Janet merely got the sides of the family mixed up, it may still be the case that Mary Jane Kennedy came from Belfast. | Kennedy, Mary Jane (I8537)
| Janet Duncan's family history records William Hunter's parents as "William Hunter and Unknown Kennedy", noting that Kennedy was born in Belfast, Antrim, Ireland. However, Janet appears to have confused her Hunter-side great-grandmother with her Duncan-side great-great-grandmother, Mary Jane Kennedy who was also from Belfast. Son William's death registration records his parents names as William Hunter and Mary Law. William senior is recorded as a gardener and deceased in 1880. William and Mary cannot be found in the 1871 census. As they were dead before 1880 and in Ireland prior to 1868 then it is presumed that they died in Ireland and never accompanied their son to Scotland. | Hunter, William (I8112)
| Janet Duncan's notes indicate that Mary died in Scotland. As Janet recalled Mary, then Mary must have lived to adulthood. She is not found in the 1891 census with her family and is presumed to have married. | Hunter, Mary (I8136)
| Janet Duncan's records indicate a Sarah Duncan born about 1868. LDS shows no baptismal record for a Sarah Duncan and census records show no Sarah. It is likely that Mary and Sarah are the same person. | Duncan, Mary (I5377)
| Janet Evelyn went by "Jessie". She married Ed O'Keefe and they had three children. Jessie died prematurely in 1907 afterwhich their children were raised by Jessie's parents. In 1911 Jessie's three children, Harvey, Hugh and Gordon O'Keefe are found residing with their grandfather, Duncan Stewart. | Stewart, Janet Evelyn (I16818)
| Janet Ferguson is buried in Old Zion United Church Cemetery, Dundee, Huntingdon, Quebec, Canada. | Ferguson, Janet Elizabeth (I24982)
| Janet is described in the 1814 Moss Census as having died in 1809 at 9 months of age. | Stewart, Janet (I16745)
| Janet is described in The Ardvorlich History as "Jessie Dullater, who had no family." There are two Dullaters: Easter and Wester. They probably resided at Easter which is directly across the Eas Gobhain (Smith's Water) from Coilantogle. Brenchoil is on Loch Katrine. According to Mrs Stewart of Milton's account: "Janet married ___ McLaren from Ardchulary and died in Dullater." | Stewart, Janet "Jessie Dullater" (I16685)
| Janet is found as a spinster in 1851 residing with her parents in Glasgow and in 1861 residing with her widowed mother in Glasgow. Janet has not been found in 1841. She worked as a dressmaker and is presumed to have never married. | Stewart, Janet (I16812)
| Janet is found in 1871 residing with her widowed mother and working as a domestic servant. Her son Robert appears to be illegitimate as he bears her surname and no father is given on his birth record. | Cuthbert, Janet (I3449)
| Janet is mentioned in the will of her cousin, Dr. David Stewart, son of Alexander Stewart, 10th of Glenbuckie, "Legacy to Janet Stewart my cousin daughter of Duncan Stewart of Torrie." | Stewart, Janet (I16688)
| Janet is not found in 1871 with her husband and infant son. They are recorded as having had only one son, so it is presumed that Janet died in childbirth. | Stewart, Janet (I16756)
| Janet is not found in the 1841 census and is presumed to have died as a young child. | Whyte, Janet Mackie (I20132)
| Janet is not found residing with her parents in 1841 and is presumed to have died in childhood. | Gillespie, Janet (I6867)
| Janet is not listed in the full accounting of the Auchnahard family in The Ardvorlich History. However the appendix to The Ardvorlich History contains the following reference: "Another daughter (of John Ban Mor) married Walter S. in Auchinferron (Gartnafueran?)" Although the preceding reference does not give the daughter's name, it would appear to be Janet Stewart who married Walter Stewart, 10th (and last) of Gartnafuaran, who is described as having married on 18 APR 1748 in Glasgow to a Janet Stewart "clandestinely" while they were both living in Glenfinglas. Their clandestine marriage could be due to the fact that she may have been no older than 15. (Although it is possible that she could have been born before her parents were married, or she could have been from a previous marriage, however she does fulfill the naming pattern by being first daughter.) Janet's place of birth is uncertain. She came from the Auchnahard family, but it appears that her family was not living in Auchnahard until 1748. Her next brother was born in Balquhidder. | Stewart, Janet (I16736)
